Meet The Board of Directors

Robert Fenwick-Smith

Founder and Managing Director of Aravaipa Ventures

Robert founded Aravaipa in 2008 with 20 years of global experience acquiring, founding, building, merging and selling companies. Robert’s previous fund managing experience was at Robannic n.v., a Private Equity Fund, from 1988 to 2002. As co-Founder and CEO of Robannic’s ROMACO Group, for 12 years, Robert lead the growth of this roll-up in the pharmaceutical packaging and processing machinery sector from its inception to $200 million in sales and successful exit.

In Aravaipa, Robert has built a micro-fund with a sharp focus on Colorado-based Impact Technology companies that all aim to improve the way we use our precious and limited resources. Just as important is Robert’s obsession with creating alignment with Aravaipa’s investors – the fund has true governance with an investment committee of LPs voting on all investment and has no management fee. Robert is an advocate of building pragmatic local companies that have technologies with a global environmental impact.

He has a BA in Economics from HEC Lausanne (Switzerland) and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Robert received the Governor of Colorado 2012 Award for Excellence in Cleantech Leadership.
